Friday night was the reception for the Society of Illustrators Student Competition, where I’m very honored to have two etchings I made last year (“The Villains" and "Goodbye Winter”) on exhibit. The show will be up until May 31st, so if you’re in New York be sure to check it out! There are some truly incredible pieces on display. I’m especially humbled to be the recipient of the Matt and Kim Scholarship for Excellence in Printmaking award for “Goodbye Winter”, as the competition was very tight this year with a record-breaking amount of entries. A big thank you to my instructor Bruce Waldman, the Society, as well as all the judges this year! I’m so glad to show alongside my main ladies Jensine Eckwall,Anna Rose,Lily Padula, Melody Newcomb, and Sabrina Elliot, as well as many other SVA friends and incredible young illustrators from all around. Thank you to everyone who came out to the show!
(Many thanks to Anna Rose for the above polaroids of Lily Padula and I posing next to our pieces. I am actually just a flat black drawing irl.)
Black and white love blog. Following back similar.
Please do not use my work to promote your blog.
As a general statement, it’s been stressed multiple times by multiple people, but please do not delete the information that accompanies an image. This image was made for the Strange Paradise zine which is being put together by Anna Rose and Jenny Zych. This image was placed on the internet to help promote that project - now it’s being circulated by many people without that information.
This has happened multiple times with other images and while it’s part of the curse of tumblr, I have to reiterate how it is generally rude and even detrimental to artists seeking to promote their projects.
